Battlestar Galactica Deadlock Description
Battlestar Galactica Deadlock for PC, PS4 and XONE is a space strategy set in a popular universe that dates back to 1978. The project was developed by Black Lab Games - a studio popular for the well-received Star Hammer: The Vanguard Prophecy. The game came out for many systems and was published by the Slitherine studio.
Plot
The player is taken for a journey to a distant part of space. The federated coalition of twelve planets created by the humans and called the Twelve Colonies, faces an invasion of the Cylons – a race of cybernetic machines that have rebelled against humans, i.e. their creators. The conflict lasted 4 years and in this time the colonists managed to tip the balance in favour of their victory. The titular deadlock got stopped however, by a sudden and terrible attack of the Cylons. Rear-admiral Lucinda Cain is the last hope of humanity – she manages the Colonial Fleet from the bridge of Daidalos, which is a kind of a mobile shipyard.
It is worth mentioning that the game features both completely new characters and figures the fans of the universe are surely familiar with. Both the fans of the universe and players new to it should be able to follow the story without any troubles.
Mechanics
Battlestar Galactica Deadlock for PC, PS4 and XONE gives an opportunity to take part in real-time battles with a tactical element to them, set in 3D environments. The player's main task is to defend the Twelve Colonies against the threat posed by the Cylons – apart from the necessity to win subsequent battles, it involves recruiting officers and conducting inter-planetary politics within the quadinary, planetary system known as Cyrannus. Alongside progression, the player extends their fleet based on the unlocked ship designs – in such a way, the player receives both smaller ships (such as the Manticore corvette) and substantially larger units, like Jupiter, which is the titular battlestar.
Game modes
Battlestar Galactica Deadlock for PC, PS4 and XONE offers a single-player mode, as well as a competition-based multi-player variant, which gives an opportunity to challenge commanders from all over the world for 1 vs 1 duels.
Technical aspects
The game's three-dimensional visuals look pretty good – what catches one's eye above all are ship models created with great attention to detail.
