Battlefield 1: In The Name Of The Tsar is the second DLC (and a part of the game's season pass) for the best-selling first-person shooter Battlefield 1. The DLC, just like the base game, was developed by DICE, a studio that for years has been responsible for the Battlefield series. Just like Battlefield 1, the add-on takes place during the World War I.

NEOsite: 7 / 10 by Paweł Musiolik
Very good DLC with exceptionally great maps, but positive reception is killed by big technical problems. Winter locations bring a breath of freshness, and the Russians and Bolsheviks fit into the theme of the game perfectly.
COGconnected: 83 / 100 by Alex Everatt
The second Battlefield 1 expansion, In the Name of the Tsar, is definitely a worthy pick-up for Battlefield 1 players.

There is a revolution happening in Battlefield 1 and it's not just with the arrival the latest expansion pack. With reworked mechanics, more progression and rewards; It's clear that DICE is implementing fundamental changes for the series. Unfortunately, even though the tides are turning, as of right now they are held back by the obligations of the available season pass.
Battlefield 1: In The Name of the Tsar Description
Battlefield 1: In The Name of the Tsar is the second official expansion to Battlefield 1 - a best-selling FPS game developed by DICE. Similarly to the base game, the add-on is available (among other platforms) on PC, XONE and PS4. As the title suggests, the expansion described herein allows players to side with the Russian army and experience the largest front of the WWI.
Mechanics
Battlefield 1: In The Name of the Tsar for PC, XONE and PS4 introduces six new maps, thus players can now participate in i.a. Brusilov Offensive in Galicia, Operation Albion taking place across the ice-bound archipelago, and battles in the Lupkow Pass coves.
Moreover, the DLC offers eleven new types of weapons (e.g. the Mosin-Nagant M91 and Russian Standard 1912 grenades) and new vehicles - including Garford-Putilow armored vehicle, Y-Lighter assault ship, and the new behemoth, Ilja Muromiec heavy bomber powered by four engines. The expansion described herein delivers also the cavalry in the form of the legendary Hussars.
Game modes
The PC, XONE and PS4 release of Battlefield 1: In The Name of the Tsar also introduces several new game modes, e.g. the Supply Drop, in which players have to fight for the army supplies dropped by the planes flying over the battlefield. Moreover, the aforementioned Brusilov Offensive has been implemented as one of the new Operations. Of course, the new content delivered by the expansion described herein includes also medals, dog tags, and service stars.
Technical aspects
As In The Name of the Tsar is not a standalone expansion, it requires the Battlefield 1 base game in order to work.
