Battalion Wars 2
Release Date: September 24, 2007
Strategy, science fiction, RTS, Nintendo exclusive, multiplayer, singleplayer
A sequel to the humorous real-time strategy game that came out in 2005 for Nintendo GameCube. The story picks up after its predecessor and shows the subsequent events of the conflict between two fictional nations. When the commanders of the Anglo Isles find out that their enemies from the Solar Empire work on a new superweapon, they decide not to wait and strike first — and that's how the world plunges into chaos yet again.
Batalion Wars 2 is a continuation of the game released on GameCube, which was liked by many players and reviewers. The basic assumptions have not changed in relation to the original - the game is still a combination of shooting with elements of strategy. This time, however, Wii console owners can participate in a virtual conflict.
The war itself was treated with a pinch of salt, so we can't count on a story dripping with pathos. Instead, we take part in battles, treated with freedom and a sense of humour, characteristic of many Nintendo games (video-Advance Wars).
The plot is not too complicated: Commander Pierce and Colonel Windsor of Angelo Islands, deceived by rumours that Solar Empire is in the process of designing a powerful super-defense, decide to attack the first. The world is once again plunged into war chaos.
The game consists of two elements: giving orders to your troops and playing as individual soldiers and direct participation in the battle. The fight can take place on land, in the air and in water. Depending on the situation, we can fight as aircraft pilots, ship captains or tank drivers. Battles are fought in five different environments.
Six different races are involved in the conflict. Each of them has its own vehicles. In addition, we can occupy buildings that are the base for our army (headquarters, barracks, factories, airports, docks, etc.).
Single player mode has more than 20 missions. In addition, there are 15 multiplayer missions. If you are already in multiplayer mode, it is worth mentioning that the authors have included three online gameplay modes in the game. So we have a typical, action-packed fight, a duel requiring some tactical thinking and missions performed in cooperation with friends.
