An action game which is a loose adaptation of a film under the same title. Players play the title characters, accompanied by Batgirl, and try to foil the plans of the villains threatening Gotham City, led by Mr. Freeze and Poison Ivy.
Batman & Robin is an action game developed by Probe Entertainment. The game, based on a license of a movie under the same title was published by Acclaim Entertainment.
Story
In Batman & Robin, the players take control of the righteous heroes of Gotham City. In addition to the eponymous Batman and Robin, Batgirl also appears in the title. During the game, the heroes have to confront the villains like Mr. Freeze and Poison Ivy and thwart their plans before it is too late.
Mechanics
In Batman & Robin we observe the action from third-person perspective. The devs provided us with an open world, where we can move both on foot and at the controls of one of the several vehicles. Of course, Batmobile leads on the list of vehicles, although the Redbird motorcycle (owned by Robin) or Batblade (used by Batgirl) also appear, among other means of transportation.
At the heart of the game is the completion of various missions, during which we take part in spectacular chases on the streets of Gotham City, confront criminals, and are able to demonstrate our detective skills. The latter is possible thanks to the Batcomputer, thanks to which we can analyze the collected evidence to plan our next steps, trying to discover the plans of Mr. Freeze and other villains.
However, what distinguishes the title from most games of this type is the fact that the game world functions regardless of our actions; therefore, some activities are available only after dark, while other tasks can only be carried out during the day. What's more, if Batman and his allies fail to reveal their adversaries' plans on time and do not appear at the right time in the right place (so that they can't, for example, prevent a bank robbery), the mission will fail.
Technical aspects
In Batman & Robin, the original gameplay formula goes hand in hand with three-dimensional visuals of decent quality; the main character's costume, full of details, will certainly find some fans.
