A detective adventure game with arcade elements, created with PlayStation 4 and virtual reality sets in mind. The title is a spin-off of a popular series of action games created by Rocksteady.
Batman: Arkham VR for PS4 and PC is a detective adventure game with arcade elements, created with virtual reality sets in mind. The title was developed by Rocksteady studio – the authors of Batman: Arkham Asylum, Batman: Arkham City, or Batman: Arkham Knight.
Plot
As the title suggests, the game takes place in DC comic book universe, specifically in its version created especially for Batman: Arkham series released by Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment. The players assume the role of the titular superhero, who takes upon himself to solve the case of mysterious murders and stopping the conspiracy that is a danger to the Dark Knight’s allies.
Mechanics
In Batman: Arkham VR for PS4 and PC, we see the action from the first person perspective, while the whole game was created in such a way so we can really feel like the Dark Knight. For example, the player has to put on the costume before embarking on a night patrol. During the gameplay, we can visit, among others, Wayne’s Manor along with the cave that serves as Batman’s hideout, but most of the action takes place in small fragments of Gotham.
Batman: Arkham VR places a special emphasis on adventure game elements. The gameplay mainly focuses on detective challenges in which we have to analyze the locations in search for clues, gather evidence, interrogate witnesses, and make certain conclusions based on gathered information. During those tasks, we use a number of technologically advanced gadgets that allow the Dark Knight to find evidence and analyze clues at the crime scenes without having to relocate to a forensic laboratory.
The gameplay is complemented by occasional simple arcade challenges.

A brilliant slice of Bat action that lets you make the most of being the World’s Greatest Detective. Don the cowl. It’s worth every penny...
PlayStation Universe: 8 / 10 by Kyle Prahl
In Arkham VR, you are Batman like never before, thanks to Rocksteady’s convincing virtual reality and an involving story full of satisfying moments.
PlayStation LifeStyle: 6 / 10 by Anthony Severino
We’d recommend giving Batman Arkham a pass at its $19.99 price tag if it weren’t for how amazingly cool it feels – even if for one brief moment – to feel like you’re Batman. For die-hard Batman fans, this will be worth the price of admission alone, but for everyone else, weigh out that specific moment in your decision-making process. If that sounds like something you must experience for yourself, give Batman Arkham VR a try. If you are hoping for a great-looking tech demo to show off PSVR’s capabilities with an iconic character everyone you know will recognize, give Batman Arkham VR a try. But if you’re looking for a deep, engaging experience, Batman Arkham VR is more laughable than The Joker’s smug grin.
