Avatar: The Game Description
Avatar: The Game is a third person action game based on Avatar motion picture, directed by James Cameron, who also took part in creative process of the game.
The story told in the game is a prequel to the movie, so seeing one does not spoil the other. The story is set in 22nd century on a moon called Pandora. It is characterized by lush vegetation, reminiscent of earthly rainforests. The protagonist is a soldier named Ryder. Pandora is a place of war between human corporation RDA and an alien race Na’vi. The former want to take over the moon in order to excavate its precious minerals. RDA expansion means repression for Na’vi, who are ready to fight for their freedom. During the game the player can decide which group to side with. Because of differences between the two paths you can complete the story mode in two unique ways.
Depending on the selected faction, the hero gets access to different gear, weapons, and upgrades. Ryder can thus make use of 14 weapons, whose firing power can be upgraded. Moreover, in the game you can acquire different abilities – 9 for each side. You can travel across in game expansive locations on RDA’s vehicles or Na’vi’s animals.
Especially much attention was given to 3D graphics. It was prepared by an outside studio Hybride. Moreover, some character and creature models were prepared by WETA Studio, the one that worked on Avatar movie. Heroes speak with voices of the movie actors, including Sigourney Weaver, Michelle Rodriguez, Giovanni Ribisi, and Stephen Lang.
