Auditorium 2: Duet for PC is a sequel of Auditorium, which was released in 2009 for PC and consoles. Similarly to its predecessor, the title is an original mix of logic and music games, characterized by stylish and minimalistic graphics. It was developed by Cipher Prime, an indie American studio. What’s interesting, Auditorium 2 was co-produced by players since the developers financed the project partly thanks to a fundraiser on Kickstarter.
Mechanics
The basic gameplay mode remains the same. The player’s task is to direct a beam of sound to one of several marked fields on a two-dimensional level. To achieve this, we have to split this beam, change its direction as well as — probably most importantly — its color. We do this with the use of various lenses and round spheres that influence the moving particles. The impact of spheres can overlap, and the players can also control their range. Every individual beam is connected to a different fragment of the melodic track played in background. We will hear the entire song after completing the level.
Game modes
The main novelty in Auditorium 2 for PC is the multiplayer mode. Technically, the developers still created a single player mode but they put the biggest emphasis on the former. The basic rules in multiplayer remain the same. Both players cooperate with each other, trying to feel marked fields with colored particles with the use of available lenses. Apart from playing jointly in the same level, the players can also play in separate ones that affect one another.
