Attack of the Earthlings

Attack of the Earthlings is a turn-based strategy, enriched with elements taken from stealth games. The title, which was also seasoned with a pinch of unique humour, was developed by the independent Scottish studio of Team Junkfish.

Plot

In Attack of the Earthlings we take control of a race of enormous insects known as The Swarmers that inhabit the planet X13. Said globe is now the target of the people of Earth, personified by the greedy Galactoil corporation, which strips other worlds from their precious resources. Our task is to drive the aggressors out of X13.

Mechanics

In Attack of the Earthlings the action is shown from an isometric view. The production has been divided into missions, during which our primary goal is to remain in hiding. Our subordinates sneak in through ventilation systems, attack single enemies, hide behind guards and finally set traps for their victims; moreover, in order to eliminate several opponents at the same time, they have to act in groups.

This is not the end of the story, however, as the bodies of the defeated people are a source of valuable biomass - a raw material used to improve individual units. Thanks to this, insects can take on various specializations, thus gaining unique abilities. In addition, in return for the completion of subsequent tasks, we receive points, which can be used to purchase mutagens that increase the combat potential of our soldiers.

Technical aspects

Attack of the Earthlings has three-dimensional graphics of decent quality. Mikolaj Stroinski was responsible for the music which accompanies the gameplay, the portfolio of this artist includes soundtracks to such games as The Vanishing of Ethan Carter and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
