Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout

Atelier Ryza: The Queen of Everlasting Darkness and The Secret Hideout is another part of the popular jRPG series Atelier, whose roots go back to the first PlayStation console. The action of the game takes place in a fantasy world, in which the art of alchemy plays an extremely important role - semi-science, semi-magic, enabling real miracles to be performed. The authors of the previous editions, i.e. the developers from Gust, are responsible for creating this title. Koei Tecmo once again took over the role of publisher.

Plot

The main character of Atelier Ryza: The Queen of Everlasting Darkness and The Secret Hideout is Reisalin "Ryza" Stout - a young alchemy adept who, together with her companions, sets out on a journey full of adventures and dangers.

Mechanics

Atelier Ryza: The Queen of Everlasting Darkness and The Secret Hideout is a typical jRPG title, focused on exploring the world of Arland, performing tasks and fighting. Typically for the series, in the discussed production it is very important to obtain various types of items, which are then used as alchemical components.

The combat system used in the game resembles what we know from the previous part of the cycle - Atelier Lulua: The Scion of Arland - but the creators decided to introduce a number of fixes. The battles are more dynamic and exciting and require more aggressive tactics.

Other important mechanics of Atelier have also received improvements. The Synthesis system features a new development tree, which, according to the creators' idea, will make the creation of items more fun. The acquisition of ingredients from the environment has also been improved - in the same place we can now get different things, depending on what tools we use for this purpose.

Game modes

Atelier Ryza: The Queen of Everlasting Darkness and The Secret Hideout can only be played solo. The mainstay of the game is a story campaign.

Technical aspects

Atelier Ryza: The Queen of Everlasting Darkness and The Secret Hideout offers pleasant, three-dimensional graphics, stylized as an animated film (cel-shading technique). The game was created based on a new, original engine, thanks to which it was possible to design detailed models of characters and colorful, fairy-tale locations. The production is characterised by a manga style typical of the series, which cannot be denied a certain charm.
