Asterix & Obelix XXL: Romastered is a refreshed and expanded version of the humorous arcade game from 2004, based on the adventures of the brave Gauls from the comic book pages. The remaster was created by studo OSome.
Asterix & Obelix XXL: Romastered is a refreshed version of the three-dimensional platform game from 2004, which tells the story of the Gaulish warriors adventures and is based on the popular comic book series. Unlike the original game, developed by the Etranges Libellules studio, the remaster was prepared by OSome Studio under the direction of Microids. They have similarly refreshed other games from the Asterix & Obelix XXL series earlier.
Plot
The action of the game starts with the return of Asterix and Obelix to the village after a successful day of wild boar hunting. But their family home went up in flames and their friends went missing. The heroes find out that it was the army of the Roman Empire and decide to go with their faithful dog Idefix to help the kidnapped villagers by visiting Gaul, Egypt, Greece or Rome itself.
Mechanics
Asterix & Obelix XXL: Romastered is a classic 3D platformer with the main goal of exploring vast levels and fighting the Romans. The game also includes various arcade sequences and environmental puzzles, the solution of which allows the heroes to unlock access to further parts of the game.
The devs have improved the mechanics by adapting it to modern standards and adding two new play modes.
Technical aspects
Asterix & Obelix XXL: Romastered offers a significantly improved visual setting compared to the original. Higher resolution, better character models, new animations or more detailed locations are just some of the changes introduced by remaster. In addition, the developer has improved the camera and control and added an option to switch between new and old graphics. Care was also taken to preserve the original voices of the characters.
