Mechanics

In terms of gameplay mechanics, Astellia Online reaches back to the roots of the genre. Players begin their adventure with the creation of a hero and the choice of character class. The developers have prepared several different professions, such as Warrior (who fights with a sword and a shield and specializes in dominating the battlefields and defending allies), Assassin (a fast and efficient killer, utilizing two weapons), Mage (an expert in elementary magic), Scholar (heals and supports companions), and Archer (who specializes in archery and is able to set traps). Each class has a certain flexibility - their abilities can be adapted to some extent to one's preferences. While playing, players also acquire new items and gradually develop their characters.

When their avatar is ready, they are taken to the in-game world. The players observe the action from behind the hero's back (from the so-called TPP perspective) and travel through vast locations, perform tasks, and kill monsters - the combat system uses the so-called tab-targeting (selecting the target with the key) and resembles what we know from e.g. World of Warcraft, however, it is more dynamic. The creators took care of both PvE (Player vs. Environment) and PvP (Player vs. Player) modes. This former includes dungeons, which in order to be completed require at least several players to cooperate with each other (interestingly enough, the difficulty level can be adjusted). The latter mode there are arenas as well as a special zone of Avalon, in which three different factions fight for power.

A unique element of the mechanics of the game described herein are the so-called Astellas - magical creatures that can be summoned by players' characters. In the game one can find many types of summoned creatures divided into two basic categories - Saviours (really strong beings, which we call only for a moment) and Servants (they are weaker, but accompany us all the time). Astellas can be acquired by completing quests or collecting loot from defeated enemies. They are represented by cards - having an additional copy of the same card makes the summoned creature stronger.

Game modes

Astellia Online has the online multiplayer mode only.

Technical aspects

Astellia Online features eye-catching 3D visuals. In this respect, the game can compete with the best productions in this genre. Every aspect of the game has been modelled with the utmost attention to detail - the rich, colourful world, detailed and nicely animated character models, as well as the spectacular lighting system make a great impression.
