Intrepid Studios is a development team founded by individuals with a portfolio that includes projects such as the EverQuest series, Star Wars Galaxies, PlanetSide 2, and Vanguard: Saga of Heroes. This team created the MMORPG game titled Ashes of Creation and it was made possible in part due to a successful crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter.
Gameplay
In Ashes of Creation the action is viewed from a third-person perspective (TPP).
Character creation
The game begins with creating our character. We are allowed to choose one of the archetypes, among which we can find a rogue, a summoner, or even a "tank" who takes most of the damage during combat.
Adventure in an open world
During the game we visit the land of Verra. It is an open world with a day-night cycle and changing seasons, as well as cataclysms that permanently affect the specific server.
Our activity in a given region leads to the development of settlements, which over time can transform into larger villages and cities. Players belonging to a particular community can establish new guilds and join existing ones or engage in politics, for example, by participating in mayoral elections of a given city. There are also opportunities to form alliances and conduct warfare.
Fighting for safety on the roads, defending and conquering fortresses
Access to resources here is limited, and the price we can get for specific goods depends on the region. Therefore, transporting goods requires organizing caravans, which can become easy prey for bandits roaming the wilderness.
In addition, fortresses are scattered across the land, which are the sites of bloody battles. Due to their small number, the goal after capturing such a fortress is to maintain it. Castles allow for control over larger areas of land.
Multiplayer
Ashes of Creation allows for gameplay based on PvE and PvP rules. During the game, we face fantasy beasts (including powerful dragons) and engage in intimate duels with other players, as well as large-scale battles.
Story
Ashes of Creation transports us to a classic fantasy world. Ages ago, the land was threatened with destruction, resulting in only remnants of the old civilization remaining on the planet. Years later, representatives of intelligent races began to reclaim control over it, which awakened an old threat.
The story told in the game is largely shaped by the players themselves, who also influence the political and economic situation.
