Asguaard is a retro style cRPG game, produced by the development team of Aldorlea Games. The story takes players into the magical world of Asguaard, whose inhabitants struggle with a series of plagues. Their only salvation is the summoning of a hero endowed with a soul - a man capable of stopping a catastrophe.
Founded by Indina Falls, the Aldorlea Games studio specializes in creating cRPG games that refer to the style and mechanics of gameplay to classics from the era of 16-bit computers. Asguaard is another production of this kind in the output of the French development team, but, unlike e.g. Lexius Force and Millenium, realized on a much greater scale.
The action takes place in the fantastic world of Asguaard, full of magic and mythical creatures. However, the lives of its inhabitants are in serious danger. It is not known where, how, the devastating plagues were freed from Pandora's Box, wreaking havoc and fear. The Committee of Sorcerers decides to call for help known only from ancient books essence - man. Legend has it that he is capable of miracles and has something that the Asguaardans can only dream of - an immortal soul.
According to the designers' assumptions, the game should provide about 100 hours of fun. Game mechanics is based on solutions known from classic cRPG games; directing the main hero's actions, the player fulfills tasks commissioned by NPCs, explores locations (more than 500) and fights against numerous opponents. There are also elements of fun such as the ability to develop characters' qualities and skills or a wide range of equipment items (weapons, armour, magical items, etc.).
The creators of Asguaard reached for a popular development tool - RPG Maker XP. Two-dimensional graphics, with a clearly marked pixel effect, are a clear reference to the retro style.
