Arslan: The Warriors of Legend

Arslan: The Warriors of Legend is an action game for PS4, XONE and etc. based on the series of fantasy novels entitled Arslan Senki authored by Yoshiki Tanaka. The bestselling writer is also known for the multivolume science fiction saga named Legend of the Galactic Heroes. The game uses the character design and the script created for the purposes of the 2013’s comic adaptation of Arslan Senki by Hiromu Arakawa, the author of the incredibly popular Full Metal Alchemist. The manga also received a TV series adaptation in 2015. In Arslan: The Warriors of Legend, we will hear the actors from the anime. The title was developed by Omega Force, an experienced Japanese studio that created the entire Dynasty Warrios series with its numerous spin-offs.

Plot

The game’s plot is set in a fictional world that is inspired by Persian culture and history. The protagonist is a young prince of the kingdom of Pars named Arslan. The hero is forced to flee his homeland when his father falls victim to a scheme and is killed as a result, while a neighboring kingdom takes control over Pars. Now, Arslan and his faithful companions and allies have to embark on a journey to reclaim the lost throne and free the country from the invader.

Mechanics

Arslan: The Warriors of Legend for PS4, XONE and etc. uses the tried formula of the Dynasty Warriors series. The production is a three-dimensional hack ‘n’ slash game with simple strategy elements that puts emphasis on spectacular action. While playing, we assume the role of a chosen character from the franchise. Each of them has unique special attacks and fighting style. Alongside our allies, we will face tens of enemies at once while traversing vast and opened locations that are divided into sectors which we have to assume control of by defeating enemies within their borders. We will also have to fight against powerful bosses who force us to devise a more complex strategy to defeat them.

Technical aspects

The game’s audiovisual layer is modeled after the aforementioned TV series. The developers use the music and dialogues that we could hear in the adaptation as well as the cel-shading graphics that imitates the TV animation.
