Army Men Air Combat: The Elite Missions is a simple shooter where we sit at the helm of a combat helicopter. Due to the fact that we are dealing with the Army Men universe, the units appearing on the screen are made of plastic. Subsequent missions are usually played inside the house or in the garden. This is no different in this case. The Elite Missions is one of the few titles in the series that was decided to be released exclusively on the Nintendo Gamecube console. 3DO is responsible for the production of this game, which no longer exists.
During the game we have a chance to play the role of Captain William Blade. Once again we set out to war with the Tan army. It has managed to obtain a very valuable deposit of plastic objects, necessary for the production of new units. In addition, the player has to deal with the Baron Von Beige, who is riding a well-equipped flying machine. There is, of course, a very clear reference to the Red Baron. This time the authors have prepared a singleleplayer campaign consisting of about twenty more or less complex missions. We operate in ten different types of locations, most of which are different sectors of a huge garden.
It is worth noting that the player does not go to war alone. You can count on the presence of four other helicopters. These units can, of course, be given simple commands, although they do well without the help of the player. The helicopter control has of course been greatly simplified, but it still requires some training. The airborne behaviour of the machine is also influenced by additional factors, such as the number of attached rockets or wind force. The tasks assigned by the command most often require the destruction of specific targets. The player can also collect power-ups, allowing for example to increase the firepower of selected weapons, or to make the unit invisible to enemy radars.
Visually, The Elite Missions presents itself relatively poorly, especially if you pay attention to the surroundings. The most beautifully performed were intermittent scenes appearing between missions. This game has a fully fledged multiplayer for two people. Players can play in cooperation mode or against each other. In the latter case, the presence of such modes as deathmatch, capture the flag, or bug hunt.
