Archero is a free mobile game by Habby studio. In the game we play as an archer exploring dungeons, fighting monsters and collecting treasures.
Mechanics
Archero is an arcade top-down shooter characterised by a simple control model and dynamic gameplay. The player's task is to wander through various levels, defeat enemies and bosses and improve his hero. We control our archer with a virtual knob at the bottom of the screen. If we stand still he will automatically start shooting at the nearest enemy. Encountered enemies attack in different ways, requiring constant attention from the player. Defeated adversaries drop experience, money and resources for character upgrades. Gaining a certain amount of experience increases our level and allows us to choose one of three skills randomized by the game. These are for example ricocheting arrows or setting enemies on fire when hit. We lose skills after death or chapter completion.
Chapters of the game consist of many chambers filled with enemies. Every tenth chamber the player faces a demanding boss fight. If we die we have to start the chapter again, keeping the gained money and resources. Completing a chapter unlocks the next one, characterised by stronger enemies and better rewards.
Archero contains a permanent progression system. Earned money and materials can be used to improve our hero permanently. From time to time we receive free chests containing new equipment. These are, among others, other types of weapons, armor with different properties or a wreath that supports us in battle. We can also buy talents that give our hero significant bonuses during the fight. Progress in the game can be accelerated by using gems, which are a premium currency. You can buy them for real money or get them in exchange for completing certain achievements.
Game modes
Archero is designed for single player, but also includes a two-player co-op mode. In this mode two players work together to clear as many chambers as possible. Co-op is present in a rather limited form and is only available a few times a day.
Technical aspects
Archero is characterised by a nice, colourful graphic design. The game doesn't try to look realistic, instead aiming for a simple but colourful and pleasing to the eye style.
