Anodyne Description
Anodyne is a proposal of Sean Hogan and Jonathan Kittaki, a two-person studio Analgesic Productions, addressed to lovers of action-RPG games. The production refers to the classics of the genre from the era of 16-bit computers.
The protagonist of the game is Young, who unexpectedly wakes up in the world of his subconscious. Driven only by the voice of the mysterious Sage, the protagonist tries to explore another fantasy land full of bizarre creatures, traps and dangers.
Anodyne's gameplay mechanics is based on solutions known from classic action-RPG games. The player directs the character's actions by observing the action from a top-down perspective (bird's eye view). The game consists mainly of exploring locations, talking to NPCs and fighting against numerous enemies. Locations visited by the hero are characterized by great diversity - from deserts and forests, through caves and dungeons, to city centers.
The game's visual setting is maintained in a retro style. Two-dimensional graphics have a clearly marked pixel effect. The fun is diversified by the climatic soundtrack, offering more than 70 minutes of music.
