Animallica PC

Animallica is a survival action game with an open, post-apocalyptic world full of animals to save. This indie game has been released on personal computers thanks to the Animallica Games Studio team.

Plot

The action of the game takes place in 2030, almost ten years after the tragic events that brought the Earth to the brink of extinction. The world has been overtaken by a plague unleashed by Dr. Morse, governments have collapsed and aggressive mutants and gangs of robbers are everywhere. Our protagonist belongs to the Animallica organization, whose goal is to find a cure and save the wild animals deformed by the disease. .

We learn the story through letters left by other Animallica agents, completing quests and exploring the environment.

Game mechanics

In line with the survival convention, Animallica is primarily a game about trying to survive in a hostile environment. This requires exploring locations in search of materials thanks to which we can make necessary tools, and dealing with hostile mutants and humans. From time to time we also come across merchants who for the right price will sell us hard to find materials.

The developers have added over a thousand animal species, which you can catch and cure, and then tame or release into the wild. We can find here both common fauna like European foxes or rabbits, as well as extremely rare legendary species. Tamed animals can follow us or be used in breeding.

Unlike defeated enemies, killed animals are not reborn on the maps, so we have to take care of their safety - either by building local bases (although they can't be built on all maps), or eliminate aggressive mutants that pose a threat to animals. In addition, we must also take care of the heroine, providing her with access to food and water and proper equipment.

All this requires a proper background, which we can't provide without resources found on land, underwater and in interesting places like pyramids, caves and so on. Once we have the materials, we decided on the look of our base ourselves. We can create an elegant zoological park, a prosperous settlement with the cultivation of rare plants or a huge research complex, or just a modest base for longer expeditions. The choice is ours.

Game modes

Animallica offers only single-player mode, but you can play in several ways. The developers have included three basic game modes. Normal is a typical survival mode, while calm mode removes all enemies from the game (although some animals can still attack us). Finally, the creative mode gives access to all items without having to search and buy them in the game world.

When starting the game, we can also choose one of dozens of maps, varying the level of danger, location (you can choose from the Alps, African savannas, deserts, lush overgrown islands, ruined cities, etc.) and the ability to build bases.

Technical aspects and other

Like many independent productions, Animallica was developed using Unity Engine technology and 3D graphics. Music was composed by Matthew Harper.
