Anarcute for PC and XONE is a crazy, independent action game which can be otherwise viewed as a rioting simulator. The game was created by a group of five students learning at a developers' school in France. Anarcute was originally an outcome of the students simply doing their homework, however, thanks to the ID@XBOX program, it began existing as a commercial product. What is yet more interesting, is that the project was first based on a concept of a spreading zombie epidemic. Because players have seen enough zombies recently, the creators decided to change the theme of their game.
Plot
The player is taken to a fictitious world governed by powerful corporations. The player takes control over citizens leaving their homes to protest against the technocratic dictatorship and giving a display of their disapproval. Their goal is to draw the attention of the entire world and initiate a rebellion, regardless of the consequences or loss that can be suffered.
Mechanics
In Anarcute for PC and XONE, the player begins having a small group of demonstrators only at their disposal – what is noticeable here is that they wear hilarious masks resembling heads of different animals. When exploring the city, the player has to convince more and more people that the cause is worth fighting, which results in the overall number of one's demonstrators increasing by the minute. The player can use different environmental objects, burn cars, as well as take over or even destroy certain buildings. The demonstrators are followed by police officers constantly, which makes the job more difficult for the player. They will not hesitate to use tear gas or even snipers to stop the demonstrators.
Technical aspects
In contrast to the gloomy situation that the player-controlled characters found themselves in, Anarcute for PC and XONE is filled with hilarity. Powered by the Unity engine, the visuals are colorful, resembling both mangas and cartoons in their graphic style. Additionally, it is worth noticing that the game offers an open-world experience to a large extent, as well as a fully destructible environment.
