American Truck Simulator: New Mexico Description
New Mexico is the first major paid DLC for the 2016’s American Truck Simulator – an exclusive PC Windows truck driver simulator developed by the Chech SCS Software. The game is a spiritual successor to the iconic Euro Truck Simulator 2. Both games are widely popular ever since they have been released.
Mechanics
American Truck Simulator – New Mexico does not introduce any major changes to the game’s mechanics. Instead, it focuses on implementing the fourth (after California, Arizona, and Nevada) state – the titular New Mexico. It is the fifth largest State, and at the same time, it is very diversified in terms of the landscape. This expansion aims at reflecting the atmosphere of the South-West USA. Thus, players get to transit Rio Grande, visit deserts, forests, mountains, and drive through the largest cities of this area – there are 14 of those in the new DLC, including Albuquerque, Santa Fe (the State’s capital), and Roswell. In these cities, there are eight new companies waiting for players to accept their transportation orders. Throughout the in-game version of New Mexico, there are eleven gas stations and truck stops, where drivers can rest after an exhausting road and, if necessary, repair their vehicle.
For this DLC, the developers have prepared over 4 thousand miles of new roads. Interestingly enough, there are also the so-called “Musical Roads”, which have special bumps – after driving over them, the tires begin to vibrate and “play” a melody.
Technical aspects
American Truck Simulator – New Mexico for PC does not modify the visuals of the core game in a significant way. Instead, it introduces over 600 new 3D models, including the most iconic vantage points of New Mexico, including Pyramid Rock, Baylor Peak, and Rio Grande Gorge.
The expansion described herein also implements new Steam achievements, which regard the virtual driving and completing assignments.
