Aliens, Trolls & Dragons is a first project of Polish studio Kubold, established by Jakub Kisiel – former employee of People Can Fly (Epic Games Poland) and CD Projekt Red, who worked on projects like Bulletstorm, Gears of War: Judgment, Infinity Blade II, Unreal Tournament 3 and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The experienced he got through this led to his own title – a TPP action game set in medieval-like settings with sci-fi features.
Plot
The story of Aliens, Trolls & Dragons for PC take place in a near future, in which humanity travels to distant planets. One of them is inhabited by sentient species with culture resembling that of Earth’s medieval. Players take control of John Knapa – a security chief of science expedition, whose ship crashed on the said planet and whose crew got kidnapped and imprisoned by hostile locals. Protagonist must rescue them, discover the truth behind the catastrophe and escape the unwelcoming planet.
Game mechanics
Thanks to Aliens, Trolls & Dragons settings, players can use both typical medieval weapons like swords and technically advanced weapons and gadgets, including paralyzing rifle and remotely controlled drones.
Technical aspects
Aliens, Trolls & Dragons for PC uses Unity technology, known from titles like Rochard, Dead Trigger, Max: The Curse of the Brotherhood, Wasteland 2, Torment: Tides of Numenera or Pillars of Eternity. The game also offers native support of Oculus Rift – virtual reality goggles.
