The first major expansion to the 4X turn-based strategy game, Age of Wonders 4. Age of Wonders 4: Empires & Ashes introduces two new story missions, the Reavers culture, a new victory condition and many other features.
Age of Wonders 4: Empires & Ashes is an expansion to Age of Wonders 4, a turn-based 4X strategy game released in May 2023. Like the base game, it was developed by Triumph Studios.
Plot
Age of Wonders 4: Empires & Ashes adds two new story missions to the game, in which the player and Laryssa must stop the forces of chaos from destroying the Astral Sea.
Mechanics
Age of Wonders 4: Empires & Ashes introduces a number of new features. The most major one are the Reavers, a new culture proficient in using magitek technology, having access to powerful cannons and war machines. The expansion also introduces a new victory condition in finding and claiming the Seals of Power, which grant control over access to the Astral Sea. The player who keeps them long enough will eventually take over the entire realm.
Another new feature is the Avian Form with unique traits and customization, brand new ancient wonders and abandoned workshops, as well as new mounts - bears.
Game modes
Like the base game, Age of Wonders 4: Empires & Ashes supports singleplayer and multiplayer.
Technical aspects
Age of Wonders 4: Empires & Ashes is not a standalone expansion, requiring the base version of Age of Wonders 4. The DLC doesn't change the graphics, but it adds six new music tracks.
