AFL Premiership 2005 is a sports game, which is an unofficial continuation of the American football simulation cycle AFL Live. The player directs the actions of his favourite teams of the Australian Football League (AFL) from the 2005 season. The title was produced by the IR Gurus Interactive studio.

One of the consequences of Acclaim's bankruptcy has been the complications with the rights to the AFL Live franchise. The developers of the three previous editions of the series - IR Gurus Interactive - decided to look for a new publisher, proposing an unofficial continuation of the series with a new tittle - AFL Premiership 2005.

Mechanics

Like the original, AFL Premiership 2005 is based on the license of the Australian Football League. Players have the opportunity to direct the actions of their favorite teams and players participating in the 2005 season. The database contains detailed information about 16 teams and 692 AFL football players.

The game is based on the official rules of Australian football, a sport that combines elements of rugby and American football. Virtual matches take place in 8 faithfully reconstructed oval stadiums. Teams of 22 players (18 in the field and 4 reserve players) have to place the egg-shaped ball behind the opponent's goal line. Specific rules define, among other things, how to attack and block rivals, kick and intercept. During the game, the player not only directs the actions of individual players but also acts as a coach, determining the tactics of the team and making changes in the line-up.
