AFL Live: Premiership Edition is the third part of a series of sports games dedicated to Australian football. Following the earlier releases of the cycle, production uses the official AFL (Australian Football League) license, which allowed IR Gurus Interactive developers to use the teams of authentic teams participating in the 2004 season.

AFL Live: The Premiership Edition, released on PC, PS2 and XBOX, was developed by IR Gurus (later known as Transmission Games) and published by Acclaim Entertainment. The game allows players to take part in virtual Australian football games. The game's database includes the names of teams and players from the 2004 season. However, the game also has references to the important characters and events in the history of this sport.

Mechanics

As befits a sports simulation, AFL Live: The Premiership Edition faithfully reflects the principles of Australian football. Matches of 22-person teams are divided into 20-minute quarters. The arena is made up of oval playgrounds and the players' task is to place the ball behind the opponent's goal line. However, there are several rules related to how to attack rivals, intercept the ball, kick and so on. Depending on the situation on the pitch, the player can change the tactics of their team.
