Game Expansions for Borderlands

Borderlands: Claptrap's New Robot Revolution
Borderlands: Claptrap's New Robot Revolution

Action 28 September 2010

The fourth and the last major expansion for Borderlands, a successful first-person shooter with RPG elements by Gearbox Software. Similarly to its predecessors, Claptrap’s New Robot Revolution introduces new locations, weapons, enemies, and allows to further develop characters from the vanilla game. This time around, a revolt of Claptrap-type robots, led by the dangerous Interplanetary Ninja Assassin Claptrap, occurs on the planet of Pandora. Playing solo or with three other people, the players assume the role of the characters from the original game and in cooperation with their usual enemy, the Hyperion corporation, set out to thwart the new danger. Fighting an army of robots takes us to previously unknown places and allows us to advance our skills with 10 additional points. In Claptrap’s New Robot Revolution, we struggle against new enemies, including mutated variants of the creatures we know. Also, there are considerable amounts of new weaponry to be found.

Borderlands: The Secret Armory of General Knoxx
Borderlands: The Secret Armory of General Knoxx

Action 25 February 2010

The third DLC for Borderlands, a game that combines elements of first-person shooter with action RPG, developed by Gearbox Software. The Secret Armory of General Knoxx continues the themes of the original Borderlands and focuses on the evil Atlas corporation that tries to kidnap the protagonists and seize the goods that remain after the defeat of an alien race. The adventure is divided into over forty varied missions, over the course of which we visit many new locations. Performing them allows the players to further develop their characters as the level cap was raised to 61. The Secret Armory of General Knoxx also features new weapons, alternative enhancements, and vehicles, including the so-called APC that can carry up to four people. In the areas we’ll visit we will find many previously unknown enemies who are smarter than before thanks to the improved artificial intelligence.

Borderlands: Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot
Borderlands: Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot

Action 07 January 2010

The second DLC for Borderlands, a popular game from Gearbox Software that combines the mechanics of an FPS with RPG elements. Contrary to the previous expansion, which offered a separate storyline played in a new location, Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot introduces three arenas where we fight subsequent waves of enemies either solo or alongside three other players. We will face not only old foes but also several entirely new ones, while it is always them who have us outnumbered, forcing the players to adopt an adequate tactic. It is also worth mentioning that the difficulty level is adjusted to the character’s level. Fighting this sort of battles is a great way to advance the protagonist’s experience level and to obtain both new weapons, either by looting them from dead enemies’ corpses or by receiving them as an award for a won round, and money, of course. The expansion also offers the possibility of unlocking two skill points and the bank that serves as a stash for currently unused items.

Borderlands: The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned
Borderlands: The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned

Action 24 November 2009

The first DLC for Borderlands, a successful action game that combines shooter with RPG elements. It was developed by Gearbox Software. Similarly to the vanilla version, the action of The Zombie Island Of Dr. Ned takes place on the post-apocalyptic planet of Pandora, although in a completely new location: the town of Jakobs Cove, the inhabitants of which were accidentally transformed into bloodthirsty zombies by the mad doctor Ned. The player’s task is to restore normality, which is a perfect excuse for facing hordes of the living dead. There are many kinds of these—they can run, crawl, jump, spit acid, or detonate their body parts. Among them, there are also new powerful bosses. To defeat them, we’ll make use of new weapons and unique items. The Zombie Island Of Dr. Ned offers 6 to 10 hours of gameplay. The expansion can be started by a character on level 10 at least. Compared to the basic version of the game, the production has an even larger dose of dark humor, with the locations being darker as well.
