Action adventure game with sneaky and platformer elements. In A Rat's Quest: The Way Back Home we take control of a rat Math trying to regain freedom with its beloved mouse Nat. During the game we go through various locations and obstacles, as well as we face our opponents or sneak behind their backs.
A Rat's Quest: The Way Back Home is an action-adventure game with stealth and platform elements. The title was developed by the independent Mexican studio The Dreamerians, and its publication was taken care of by HandyGames.
Plot
The main character is a rat named Mat who tries to reach his beloved - a mouse called Nat, kept by humans as a pet - to escape into the wild with her. To do this, the rodent needs to embark on a long, dangerous journey.
Mechanics
In A Rat's Quest: The Way Back Home, the action is shown from third-person perspective; however, at selected moments the camera changes position, presenting the protagonist from the side or in top-down view. The small size of our hero enables him to squeeze through various gaps and get to places difficult to reach. On the other hand, this turns even an ordinary wardrobe into a vast dungeon full of dangers, while opening the door requires him to climb to the handle.
In addition, there are various opponents in Mat's path - although he has a rivet, which he uses like a sword and a button that serves as a shield, he is not a powerful warrior able to face any danger. As a result, he often has to sneak past his enemies or flee from combat. It is worth mentioning separately that the game does not lead us by the hand - we will not experience in it a minimap, or even a compass, while the encountered problems can be solved in various ways.
Technical aspects
A Rat's Quest: The Way Back Home features colorful visuals adopting an eye-catching style reminiscent of Pixar's animations.
