A Musical Story is an original game combining elements of rhythm game and narrative adventure game. It was developed by the French Glee-Cheese Studio team and published by Digerati.
Plot
The action of the A Musical Story is set in the 1970s. The main character is Gabriel, affected by amnesia. In order to regain lost memories, the protagonist escapes into the world of music, gradually recalling who he is and what he has experienced. The story presented in the game is told without the use of words.
Mechanics
In A Musical Story we follow the chapters of the story of Gabriel's life. We unlock memories by playing new songs. Unlike standard music games, there's no timeline showing you when to press a particular button during gameplay. Instead, the title appeals to our sense of rhythm and memory, and the 'notes' to be played are presented on a circle; the closer together they are, the shorter the gap between them. A hidden chapter of the story awaits players who manage to play each song perfectly.
Technical aspects
A Musical Story colourful, cartoon-like graphics were created by Alexandre Rey. The soundtrack consists of 26 songs, signed by Charles Bardin and Valentin Ducloux, inspired by Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and Air.
