A game by the independent studio SpaceBudgie escaping attempts at strict genre classification. The production pays tribute to the victims of the tsunami that struck Japan in 2011. The player takes on the role of an anonymous character who, one year after the tragic events, discovers on Baker Beach Beach in San Francisco, where the sea has thrown away the remains of objects taken away by the deadly wave.
9.03m is the idea of the independent Space Budgie studio to commemorate the more than 15.5 thousand victims of the tsunami that struck the coast of the Japanese island of Honshu in 2011. According to developers' declarations, half of the profits from the sale of the game are transferred to Aid For Japan.
The game does not have a clearly defined plot. The action takes place one year after the tragic events. The player takes on the nameless character who, on San Francisco's Baker Beach Beach, finds the remains of objects thrown away by the sea by a deadly wave.
The essence of the extremely short game, which lasts about 20 minutes, is a virtual beach wandering in the footsteps of butterflies, which commemorate the victims of the catastrophe. The action presented from the perspective of the first person (FPP) and the lack of clearly defined goals is to persuade players to reflect on the sense of humanity.
9.03m is characterized by an extremely economical in form visual setting. Three-dimensional graphics show mainly outlines of objects. The whole is maintained in blue colors, with which the atmospheric background music composed of works performed on the piano also harmonizes well.
