A climatic adventure game with elements of horror, in which we play the role of one of the sisters, kidnapped and locked in a dark, mysterious place. The game consists of classic puzzles, requiring the collection and use of objects, logical-arcade mini-games and occasional searches for hidden objects.

1heart, released on PC, is an atmospheric adventure game with horror elements, which is the first major project of a two-person studio Chicken in the Corn. The title was completed thanks to the fundraising campaign.

Plot

1heart tells the story of twin sisters who were left alone at home by their parents for a weekend. Unaware of the fact that they shouldn't open the doors to strangers, the girls fall prey to a dangerous criminal who kidnaps them and then locks in a mysterious and dark place. When one of the sisters manages to escape, her main goal is to free her sister and discover the identity of the kidnapper. She doesn't know, however, that the persecutor carefully follows her every step....

Mechanics

The production of Chicken in the Corn studio can be considered a combination of a classic point-and-click adventure game with elements of HOPA (hidden object point adventure) casual games. While playing, we travel through over 60 different locations - seemingly ordinary but filled with strange devices, mysterious objects and cameras tracking all our actions. In the initial stage of the game, we face mainly logic puzzles typical for adventure games that require us to collect items, combine them and use in various places. Over time, classic puzzles begin to get replaced by various mini-games, such as Sokoban, rotating circles to create a specific pattern, or repositioning fuses to cause a short circuit. There are also a few stages, in which our task is to find several items from the list presented on the screen.

Technical aspects

A characteristic feature of 1heart is the original graphic design, consisting of hand-drawn scenery, sometimes resembling an unfinished sketch. On the one hand, it perfectly emphasizes the atmosphere of the game and the feeling of danger accompanying the heroine. However, on the other hand, the style sometimes makes it difficult to find the necessary items, forcing us to click blindly. Despite the dark atmosphere, the authors have decided to include a number of easter eggs and references to the Polish history, culture and famous characters.
