1917 - The Alien Invasion DX

1917 - The Alien Invasion DX is a shoot'em up game developed by the German studio Andrade Games, based in Heidelberg. After visiting Verdun, the place of one of the biggest battles of World War I, fascinated by the vision of the great boss floating over the battlefield, the developer decided to create a game referring to this idea.

Story

Europe is burning with the fever of the Great War. Millions of people die in the name of fanatical political ideologies. The trenches are crowded with soldiers sent by commanders on suicide attacks breaking down under the fire of enemy machine guns. However, all these sufferings intensify when on April 15, 1917, enemy spacecraft appear in the sky, opening fire on both military and civilians. Since that attack, the foundation of world was shaken, and a period of darkness and suffering has come for mankind.

Absorbed by the war, people stop fighting each other and form a great coalition whose task is to stop aliens.

The player takes on the role of Dr. Brunhild Stahlmüller, who developed an experimental aircraft together with her assistant. The Red Beezlebub Triplane was constructed on based on the alien space technology, collected from numerous battlefields. The machine performs well in atmospheric battles as well as in deep space. The brave heroine jumps into the cockpit and flies to Verdun to defeat the Chessmaster, the self-proclaimed king of all mankind. However, the scientist does not know that this is just the beginning of an adventure that will lead her away from home, to the place of origin of the aliens.

Mechanics

The title is a representative of a popular shoot'em up genre, consisting of controlling a vehicle under constant, dense fire of enemy machines and bosses. The player's task is to avoid enemy projectiles and eliminate the enemy. The key to success is to remember the attack patterns of enemy units and display the dexterity to stay alive for as long as possible. In the course of the struggle, we also use numerous power-ups, which increase the capabilities and durability of our machine.

The game consists of eight stages, each of which ends with a fight against a unique boss. The game is accompanied by a psychedelic soundtrack.
