Trine 2: Complete Story Description
Trine 2 for PC, PS4 and etc. is a colorful platformer filled with elements of logic games. The story is set in a fairytale, fantasy world. It was developed by Frozenbyte - the creators of the original game, and the Shadowgrounds series.
Story
In Trine 2 for PC, PS4 and etc. the three characters bound together by an artifact known as Trine are back again. This time, the wizard, the thief and the knight are brought to a fairytale land swarming with goblins. The only clues Amadeus, Zoya and Pontius have, are the names - Rosabel and Isabel. Discovering the story behind the two names will require the heroes to overcome many difficulties.
Gameplay
Trine 2 for PC, PS4 and etc. is a two-dimensional game. The gameplay is full of arcade elements, such as jumping or fighting, but puzzle solving plays an equally important role here. What is more, the player can search for hidden treasures and special balls/bottles containing experience points.
The game offers three controllable characters: Zoya, the thief, Amadeus, the wizard, and Pontius, the knight. Each of them has their unique abilities, and putting those to a good use is necessary for the progress of the story. Some of those abilities were already present in the original game, but the sequel gives new skills to the characters as well. The knight specializes in close combat, he deals a lot of damage and is capable of blocking enemy strikes with a shield. The thief uses her bow in fights. She is the most agile of all the three characters, and capable of floating in mid-air thanks to her grapple hook and a rope. The wizard is the weakest character, but he can materialize objects and move them. For the most part, the player can switch between the characters freely.
The original game delivered an opportunity to play with others in the same room, but Trine 2 introduces an online multiplayer mode. Two additional players can join a session in progress at any time now.
Technical aspects
Despite the fact that Trine 2 offers two-dimensional gameplay, the creators delivered in-game environments in full 3D. All the character animations are of high quality. The locations are diverse and extremely detailed. The game has bright-colored visuals and an atmosphere of a fairy tale. A set of new locations was created for the sequel, and character animations were improved.
