Master of Magic

Master of Magic is a remake of the 1994 strategy game. We take on the role of a powerful mage who leads an army full of fantastic creatures. Remake introduces big changes in graphics and some improvements in gameplay. The original game was developed by SimTex, while the Polish company MuHa Games became the developer of the refreshed version.

Mechanics

Master of Magic is a classic 4X strategy. We start the game by choosing a mage - we have over a dozen different characters at our disposal. Then our main task is to take control over two parallel worlds - Arcanus and Myrror. We do this by using magic and controlled troops.

We spend most of the time observing the strategic map divided into hexes (a change from the original game, which used a map with a grid of squares) and making decisions about the movement of units. During battles we can use dozens of special abilities and several hundred spells divided into five schools. We also have a huge number (almost two hundred) of different units at our disposal, and often they are fantastic creatures known from books or movies, such as orcs, elves or dragons.

As we progress in the game, our character becomes stronger - we can gain one of several dozen special abilities, as well as find and equip over two hundred magic items.

Game modes

In Master of Magic we can play only solo. The core of the gameplay is the single player mode.

Technical aspects

Master of Magic has a decent graphic design, which in some areas was created practically from scratch. For example, we have here a 3D strategic map (it is visible, although we observe it only from the top-down view). The developers have also prepared completely new illustrations depicting mages and units.
