Fate/stay night [Réalta Nua] Description
Fate/stay night is a fantasy game set in contemporary Japan. The title is one of the most popular and most famous visual novels that were created in Japan. Type-Moon studio, specializing in adventure games, is responsible for its creation. Fate/stay night was the developer's third work and its first huge commercial success, which resulted in numerous side productions, as well as books, comics, TV series and movie adaptations.
Plot
The story depicted in Fate/stay night can be classified as urban fantasy. The action takes place in the present day, mainly in the fictional Japanese city called Fuyuki. The plot draws its ideas from the Celtic, Greek, Japanese, Persian, etc. mythologies combined in an original way, presenting players with a vision of the world inhabited by magicians. The main character of the game is a teenage high school student called Shiro Emiya, who by accident becomes one of the participants of a special magical tournament. In fact, this tournament is a ceremony to create the holy grail, a powerful artifact, capable of fulfilling all wishes. It is traditionally held every several dozen years in Fuyuki and was initiated by three powerful families of magicians. All participants must recall a magical servant from one of the seven classes - heroes from myths or legends from all over the world. Together with the assistant, they must then eliminate competition in order to obtain the right to benefit from the artifact. During the competition, Shiro gains allies, dangerous enemies, learns about his past and future, as well as the secrets and nature of the player.
Mechanics
Fate/stay night is a typical visual novel where players spend most of their time reading the text enriched with music, illustrations, animations and recorded dialogue lines. At critical moments of the action, we are asked to make a decision, resulting in the selection of one of the many paths that ultimately lead to one of the endings. The game consists of three separate parts, entitled Fate/stay night, Unlimited Blade Works and Heaven's Feel, presenting three alternative versions of the same story. The total amount of the text they contain corresponds to several hundred pages of novels, and if we add to this the fact that the authors have included several dozen different endings in the title, we can be sure that it will provide fun for long hours. An additional attraction is the Fate franchise encyclopedia which contains, among other things, profiles of heroes, as well as a gallery of graphics.
