And a Curse, and Love, and Betrayal
And a Curse, and Love, and Betrayal) is one of the greatest fan adventures created for any installment of the Witcher series – it is enough for about 10-12 hours of fun. The whole thing is highly non-linear, and offers a lot of new music.
Geralt comes to a small village, where he undertakes two contracts – a young girl wants us to free her fiancée from a curse, and the head of the village hires us to clear the local gold mine of monsters.
Birth, & Virgins
Birth, & Virgins, on the other hand, is a mod that focuses mainly on story and difficult moral choices, rather than combat. This project is also highly non-linear, and the plot revolves around the priestess of the Eternal Fire, who didn't comply with the requirements of basic hygiene.
Crossroads
Crossroads take us to a village terrorized by two gangs. The most impressive element of this adventure is the freedom it gives to the player. We make exacerbate the conflict between the two groups, join either of them, or try to reconcile them. Our decisions result in one of several possible endings.
Deceits
Deceits is a mod that won the D'jinni Adventure Editor Contest and was later included in the official patch 1.5 for the first Witcher.
In this mod, Geralt receives a call to the court and ventures towards Lan Exeter. After crossing the Kestre Mountains, he ends up in the small village upon the Brad River. The project offers a new location and seven quests along with it.
Deception
Deception is a large adventure (enough for 2-3 hours of fun) where Geralt tries to save Dandelion from merciless justice in the city of Carreas.
In addition to a new location and challenges (including optional side quests), the project also has dubbing and a lot of original graphics elements. It also adds knife throwing mechanics.
Entrapped
In turn, Entrapped is the second mod from The Bards group known from And a Curse, and Love, and Betrayal. This adventure is much shorter but just as powerful. The story begins when Geralt decides to spend the night in a sleepy village. It quickly turns out that this decision can cost him with his life.
Masquerade
If you're going to play only a single adventure for the first Witcher, make sure it's Masquerade. This is a crime story that pivots on a mysterious murder, and our task is to identify the culprit. The action takes place in the Outskirts. We come across a caravan from Vengerberg, full of suspicious merchants and coarse dwarves, as well as a Doppler, which the locals despise – but does that mean that it's guilty of murder?
Medical Problems
Medical Problems, on the other hand, is a mod offering a story divided into two chapters. In the onewe need to help Shani fight an epidemic of unknown origin. In the second one, our task is to save Vesemir and Eskel, both of whom are seriously ill. Witchers are supposedly immune to all diseases, but this one was created using the stolen mutagen secrets.
Merry Witchmas
This is one of the biggest fan adventures to the first Witcher, as it lasts for about 3 hours. The story begins when Geralt arrives in Vizima. He intends to make a coin before heading to spend the winter in Kaer Morhen, but the seemingly simple assignment turns out to be much more complicated than it initially seemed.
The mod offers a large variety of challenges and is very polished, and an additional attraction is the reworked Wyzima, which we can admire in a wintery setting.
Right to the Throne
Right to the Throne takes us to Vizima's Outskirts, where evil returns after a brief time of peace. This is a rare case of an adventure in The Witcher that focuses on combat.
The Wedding
The action of this adventure takes place during the wedding of none other than Geralt, organized on a grand scale and with participation of many guests. The gameplay focuses mainly on interactions with other characters, and the story is presented with a great sense of humor, and lots of allusions and puns.
