Table of Contents

Release date: May 2019

Genre: Strategy

Available on: PC

Since 2000, when the first Shogun debuted on the market, we have already received as much as 12 major installments of the Total War series. We visited feudal Japan and medieval Europe, experienced the golden age and twilight of the Roman Empire, conquered the world at Napoleon’s side, we even found ourselves in the dark fantasy world of Warhammer. Having covered such a diversified scope of themes, it’s getting harder and harder for the team at Creative Assembly to find fresh, interesting settings that would fit well into the premise of the series. This year, however, they managed to hit the bull's eye and take us on a trip to the fascinating, exotic China of the period of Three Kingdoms.

Total War: Three Kingdoms not only transfers well-proven ideas to the world of conflict between the kingdoms of Shu Han, Wei and Wu, but also makes the fun more interesting by dividing it into two types. In addition to the traditional, historical mode, there is also a variant that glorifies the heroes, making them much more powerful and enabling them to fight spectacular, almost cinematic duels.

The rest is what we all know and love - Three Kingdoms is comprehensive strategy game with great-looking tactical battles and a vast strategic map that enables us to develop subsequent provinces, trade, form alliances or backstab those who choose to trust us. Just short of its twentieth anniversary, the series is still in perfect shape.

In games, he primarily looks for stories, emotions, and immersion that no other medium can provide - hence, among his favorite titles, are games focusing on narration. Believes that NieR: Automata is the best game ever made.
