Deux Ex Universe. Missing in action – the most anticipated games lost in development hell

Starting off with a more recent title, our frustration level is pretty low. On December 4th, Eidos has revealed its’ new Dawn Engine. A large group of skilled programmers has redesigned the successful Glacier 2 (on which the new Hitman proudly ran) in order to make the next games with the Eidos logo look beautiful, effective and realistic. However, the highlight of those short news, was the use of the Deus Ex franchise, alongside with this pretty little screenshot:
Even if Eidos hadn’t stated that the Dawn Engine was to be the basis of the projects involving Deus Ex Universe, the association would have been obvious. The golden colors, industrial setting and the unique atmosphere bring to mind the well-received Human Revolution from 2011. We’ve already known about Deus Ex Universe for quite some time now – nearly a year ago the head of Eidos Montreal, David Anfossi, has revealed that his team is currently working a new rich open-world environment, that will house new games from the Deus Ex series, as well as mobile releases, novels and comicbooks. In 2013 the development of the new title for the PC and next-gen consoles was already underway. Decembers’ update clearly stated that the word ‘universe’ shouldn’t be associated with a MMO – the developed Deus Ex surely won’t feature any multiplayer elements. Hurray! We can’t wait, just like one Chuck on our chuck-o-meter awaits a worthy opponent.
