Best Games for Oculus-Meta Quest 2 of 2022

Virtual Reality games are neither wildly popular nor common. But they do exist and deliver so much immersive fun. We present you 16 best games available on Oculus Quest 2, now known as Meta Quest 2.

VR offers a gaming experience like no other. These games are much more immersive than traditional ones. You can find some action-packed, crazy titles that will take your breath away. Others offer a great way to relax and hang out with your friends. If you own or plan to buy the Oculus Quest 2 VR set (now rebranded as Meta Quest 2), and are not sure what games to play, this list is perfect for you. It consists in different kinds of games, so everyone should find something interesting.

What is the difference between Oculus Quest 2 and Meta Quest 2?

Oculus Quest 2 is a headset designed and developed by Meta Platforms i.e. the former Facebook Inc. The first version of Oculus was manufactured before the Facebook takeover, and was financed via Kickstarter. In 2014, Oculus was acquired by Facebook Inc., thus entering the VR market. In 2021, Oculus Quest – similarly to Facebook itself – was rebranded as Meta Quest 2. Meta Quest 2 remains significant for the entire VR segment, as well as for Metaverse itself.

What Are The Best Oculus/Meta Quest 2 Games?

Resident Evil 4 VR

Resident Evil 4 is one of the best and most important games out there for Oculus Quest 2, even if some fans of the series didn’t like it. It came out in 2005 and refreshed the old formula, giving players TPP perspective and much more enemies to kill. Instead of old mansion or Racoon City infested with zombies, you have to deal with hordes of mad people in some secluded village in Europe.

As Leon S. Kennedy (known from Resident Evil 2) you have to rescue president’s daughter, who’s been kidnapped by a mysterious cult. And it’s not going to be easy. Almost everyone that Leon comes in contact with is highly aggressive. There’s even a guy with a chainsaw, wanting to behead the protagonist. You will meet not only humans though – in Resident Evil 4 VR there will be some giant mutants as well.

But Resident Evil 4 is not just a simple action-packed horror game. There’s engaging story with memorable characters and some plot twists. And besides that, there are creepy sceneries and disturbing atmosphere. In terms of gameplay, as mentioned before, there’s a lot of shooting. But not only that. It’s Resident Evil, so get ready for a lot of exploration and solving puzzles. And all of that in VR, in first person perspective. It’s more immersive than ever.

Superhot VR

Superhot was released back in 2013. It started as a project for the 7DFPS challenge, and everybody loved it so much that the creators decided to turn their project into an actual game. It’s an unusual first-person shooter, in which time flows only when the player moves. When we stop – time stops, and then we can look around and plan our next move. We have to avoid bullets and kill all enemies in a given stage. Then we can move to the next area. Be mindful though – a single bullet can kill you, and when it does, you’ll have to start the stage from scratch.

In Superhot VR for Oculus Quest 2, however, we can’t move freely around the map. After killing all enemies in one room, we automatically move to another one. As for weapons – we start without any, and we have to claim them from enemies. Besides firearms (like handguns or shotguns) we can use whatever’s around. Like, for example, a frying pan or an ashtray. All of this in minimalistic 3D graphics. And it looks extraordinary, especially when killed enemies shatter like glass.

I Expect You To Die 2: The Spy And The Liar

We don’t really expect you to die. But the evil Zoraxis does. He believes that you (a special agent) are dead. He wants to take control over the world and in order to stop him, you will have to use telekinesis to solve numerous puzzles. And he can’t know that you are pursuing him, so you’ll need a disguise. Get ready to escape many dangerous situations.

I Expect You to Die 2 for Oculus/Meta Quest 2 is a fun and humorous game from the creators of Human Fall Flat. There are six different missions and each one takes place in a different environment. Outsmarting Zorax is the best way to feel like a real spy – like in 70s James Bond movies. Besides – you can meet with John Juniper, voiced by famous Wil Wheaton. On top of that, the game is very accessible. You can play it seated and use one or both hands. But be ready to die a lot. And every time you do, you’ll have to begin from scratch. So… try not to die!

Moss

Moss started off as a PlayStation 4 exclusive, but now it is available on PC as well (so yes, you can play it using Meta Quest 2 VR headset. It’s a fabulous VR game about a she mice named Quill, who embarks on a dangerous journey to stop an ancient creature awaken by a mysterious stone. During the adventure, you will explore mysterious caves, swamps and forests.

It’s a classical platformer game, in which you will fight, solve puzzles, and explore the world. Developers drew inspiration from masterpieces such as ICO and The Legend of Zelda series. All of this comes in colorful graphics and with a heartwarming soundtrack. Although it’s a VR game for Meta Quest 2, it doesn’t utilize first-person perspective. Instead, the game uses fixed camera angles. Just like in the old days. Your role is to help Quill get trough dangerous locations and heal her when she needs healing.

The Room VR: A Dark Matter

Talking about the best oculus quest games without The Room VR: A Dark Matter for Meta Quest 2 is simply impossible. The Room VR: A Dark Matter is a fifth installment of a franchise developed and published by Fireproof Games. Your main goal Is to find objects hidden in the game world, just like in any other game from the “hidden object” genre. You can pick up items and rotate them, learning the story while you read the descriptions.

The plot takes place in 1908, at the British Institute of Archeology. As a London policeman, you must uncover the truth about the disappearing of a famous Egyptologist. To accomplish this, you will have to thoroughly explore the institute. Thanks to 3D audio system, you will feel like you’re actually there. If you want to relax, this game will be perfect.

The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners

Ever wanted to feel like a character from The Walking Dead? Well, now you have a chance. The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners puts you in the middle of a zombie apocalypse. The story takes place a few years after the outbreak. You have to fight for your survival, and the zombies are not the only threat. Other people may be worse.

Walking Dead Saints and Sinners is set in New Orleans, where two factions compete for power over the city. Our character may choose either of them, help the other survivors or just take care about themselves. The action is shown in first-person perspective. You can use different kinds of firearms, but first, you will have to craft them. To do so, you’ll need not only the right resources, but blueprints as well. Don’t worry though – if you won’t have anything on you, you can always use whatever is in your vicinity to improvise a weapon – for example, a chair.

And what’s also important, the story is shaped trough your choices. Many missions can be done in a different way, so there’s a lot to discover if a single walktrough won’t be enough for you. And remember: be smart and creative. Use your surroundings, and when you have the chance – conceal yourself with zombie odor. That works too.

Walkabout Mini Golf

Here’s another highly relaxing game on the list. Walkabout Mini Golf for Meta Quest 2 is all about having a good time. Virtual mini golf courses are a good way to forget the problems and just relax. Especially since you can invite up to three friends to play together, or just hang out and have a nice chat. One of the strongest points of Walkabout Mini Golf is its social aspect.

But it looks and sounds nice, too. Every course looks awesome, and you can choose from variety of styles – there’s a little something just for everyone. And if you’re not interested in playing, you can just wander around and look for hidden balls. If it’s still not enough for you… Well, you can also fly when you feel like it: just hold your golf stick up like Mary Poppins did her umbrella, and… up you go.

Population: One

As the name perhaps implies, Population: One is a battle-royale game for Oculus Meta/Quest 2. It’s also a first-person shooter that offers great freedom of movement. You can climb any structure in your sight and use gliders to fly over the battlefield. But the area is gradually shrinking over time, so time is limited.

Your goal is simple: kill everyone from the opposing team. Besides fighting and moving around, you can build simple structures such as barricades which will provide cover. The game works best in multiplayer mode, but if you prefer to play solo, you can, as Population: One offers a single-player mode as well.

Beat Saber

How would you feel about a combination of Fruit Ninja and a rhythm game? Yeah, that’s Beat Saber for you. The idea is to smash incoming cubes with your sabers (similar to those known from Star Wars). And you have to keep the rhythm, too, so the music can play like intended, just like in Guitar Hero or Rock Band. The difference is that Beat Saber focuses on electronic music and you don’t need to press any buttons. It is worth noting that the game on Oculus or Meta Quest 2 looks astonishing.

In Beat Saber encountered cubes come in two colors – just like your sabers. You have to use the matching sword on cubes of the given color to destroy them. What’s more, each cube must be slashed in proper manner, at the right angle. Some courses have various obstacles, and you have to avoid them by performing the right moves with your body. Simply put: just dance, like in that song by Lady Gaga. Believe us, Beat Saber is one of the best Meta Quest 2 games.

Half-Life: Alyx

Half Life is one of the greatest series of all time. And it was dormant for quite some time – to be exact: for 13 years. In 2020 Valve released a new installment. Half Life: Alyx, a prequel, set five years before Half Life 2, and it’s designed specifically for VR, including Meta Quest 2. But it feels a lot like the previous games. You will fight, solve puzzles, explore the world and use gravity gloves – which work similarly to the gravity gun from the second game. You take role of Alyx Vance, who appeared in Episode One and Episode Two.

According to the series’ tradition, Half Life: Alyx is also a survival horror game, so you will sometimes feel shivers going down your spine. It’s one of the best VR games of all time. And it looks better than most of them. High production values and quality of the rest of the elements are the reason why this game won numerous awards and was voted the best VR game at the 2020 Video Game Awards.

Robo Recall: Unplugged

A need, dynamic first-person shooter in VR? Robo Recall may be one of the best choices if you have Oculus Quest 2. Epic Games (the studio behind Gears of War and Fortnite) delivered an epic FPS focused on spectacular shootouts and score-based rivalry. There aren’t many shooters in which you can grab an opponent and smash them into a wall. And what’s more, breaking these mechanical enemies yields new parts for upgrades. You can also teleport freely in any location in your sight.

Pistol Whip

Pistol Whip is another rhythm game on our best VR and Oculus/Meta Quest 2 games list. Contrary to Beat Saber mentioned above, this game is a shooter. You have to shoot in harmony with music – the more rhythmic you are, the better score you’ll get.

Pistol Whip is divided into missions, in which we land right in the center of the action – it may be during a bank heist or an android uprising. In Pistol Whip there are 30 different scenes, and each one comes with intense music tracks. Developers were inspired by action movies such as John Wick or Equilibrium, so the fact that it has great style shouldn’t come as a surprise.

A Fisherman’s Tale

Say “hi” to Bob – a lonely fisherman puppet, who lives in his colorful home. He has no idea what goes on outside his home, but that changes one day, when he receives radio transmission and goes outside to the top of the lighthouse, to turn lights on. And then something bizarre happens.

A Fisherman’s Tale is an adventure game. It’s presented with unique style and has some interesting puzzles – they often involve breaking the laws of physics. For most of the time, you’re going to explore beautiful locations and use found objects to cast them, break them, and shape something new. And when it comes to visuals – it’s like being inside an animated movie!

Until You Fall

If you’re a fan of games enriched with RPG and rougelike elements, Until You Fall for Meta Quest 2 might be the game for you. It will take you to a fantastic land called Rokar, where you will have to defeat ultimate evil. Civilization which inhabited these lands was the victim of the Calamity. You will take the role of the last elite Rune Knight and try to defeat evil.

It’s another rhythm game in which you fight to the synthwave music. You can attack with two weapons at once, block, cast spells or evade incoming attacks. All of this in neon fantasy world and in first player perspective. There aren't many RPGs on the Oculus Ques or Meta Quest 2t, so we recommend Until You Fall all the more.

Onward

Onward is a tactical multiplayer shooter. If you ever wanted to feel like a special operator, you might want to try this game out, especially if you want a hardcore experience. Onward offers a variety of modes: you can play in co-op PvE or competitive PvP modes – including 5v5 matches.

The key to success is to communicate, synchronize and strike together with the rest of your squad. The developers wanted to create the most realistic game possible, and they were largely successful. If you’re into multiplayer VR games, then you should definitely try Onward for Oculus Quest 2.

Demeo

Demeo is a tabletop co-op RPG dungeon crawler and one of the best Meta Quest 2 games. You can play with up to three other players as hawk-eyed hunter, deadly assassin or mystical sorcerer. Your objective is to vanquish the unholy evil and to do so, you have to work together with your team. It’s a new tabletop experience, which gives you the opportunity to organize sessions with friends from all over the world. And what’s more – developers keep working on their game, adding new content regularly.
