STORY:

"It is the year 1545. A long period of peace between the Kirgard kingdom and the State Union of Zelmony is about to come to an end. Despite efforts from Chancellor Ryan of Zelmony to maintain good relations, there is a mutual sense of distrust running deep through both countries, making diplomatic action difficult.

The point of conflict: Helman Island, a disputed area in a strategic position between the two enemies. Claimed by both nations, ownership of the island has changed repeatedly over the centuries. Soon, the past 21 years of Zelmony control will end as well.

But this time, Kirgard will not be satisfied with the island alone. Plans for a full-scale invasion are ready, and the royal army is stronger than ever.

Under the command of the Red General, Jovian Knight, a surprise attack is carried out on the port city of Jargo..."

Here begins the tangled story of Daniel Vinyard, colonel in the Kirgard Army, and his childhood friends, Jovian and Angel.

GAMEPLAY:

Being an RPG Maker game, Exit Fate uses sprites and music files "borrowed" from other games, mostly Suikoden II (which seems to be the obvious inspiration also in plot department), Final Fantasy and Chrono Trigger, but character art and several innovations are original and unique for this type of games. First, it is the bribing system which allows to avoid battle encounters if you possess enough money (there's no run away option during battle). Second, it is the way how magic points act during battle. Instead of decreasing, they gradually rise, so that certain spells can be cast only after several turns. Also, MP points are not individual, they are distributed from the pool among all party members. Third, there's a "relation" system. Each character can have up to three "relatives" who affect his stats during battles.

Similarly to Suikoden game features also the grand battles system - apart from usual party fights there are also strategic maps where bigger fights, between whole armies, take place.
