Vistula German campaign overhaul is a mod for Steel Division 2, created by  MaxPV1981.

Description:

The project modifies the German Vistula campaign. It increases the difficulty level, so that the state challenges even veterans, and strengthens significantly defensive tactics. This is important, because by default this campaign is trivially easyand provides no satisfaction.

Despite the fact that the campaign is very long, for experienced players it is not very difficult, and the map can be completely cleared by 16-18 turns. In addition, the AI is not active enough in areas where there is a large concentration of the player's troops. Perhaps, from the point of view of realism it is logical, but from the point of view of gameplay - depressing. Campaigns were obviously also counted on the fact that many people will use autobattle, but at the tactical level, if the player has enough experience, most of the units remained unused. Available mods for the campaign usually frightened primarily by the large number of hight-tier vehicles, and battles were centered around them - I wanted a more measured gameplay with a much greater role of infantry and defense construction mode. Therefore, high-level units are really scarce, and they now need to be distributed more intelligently. For example, the tank regiment instead instead of 54 "Panthers" has only 15, and two "Jagdpanther" - but this is one of the strongest formations in the original game, for the rest of the difference is not so great.

The main areas of redesign:

  1. First of all, the number of units in battalions where they were unreasonably numerous has been significantly reduced, and in their place (or additionally) most units from the DLC that fit the time period and set of units have been added - for example, Hermann Goering's division now includes mostly appropriate units with the HG tag, the Totenkopf division has added Mountain Riflemen (who were part of the division at a certain time), Ski jagers have been added to fusilier regiments, etc. Reduced unit numbers will force the AI to act more aggressively. The changes in the composition of units are too voluminous to describe all of them, especially since many units have been added in single copies - for example, captured KV-2, “Valentine” and other various Allied vehicles.
  2. The Pak 40 bunkers are equipped with HE shells, the Pak 38 one with APCR shells, and the
  3. Pak 36 one with HEAT grenades.
  4. For units with "Panther” tanks, Pantherturm DOTs were added to the HQ Company, and for units with Pz.IIs, respectively, Panzerstellung Pz.IIs were added. The ammunition of these DOTs is reduced compared to the standard one, and is more in line with the typical tank loadout, but the ammunition is supplemented with high-explosive shells and machine guns corresponding to the tank model - this simulates the entrenchment of some tanks in the division.
  5. An ammunition truck, 4 transport vehicles, and two 20mm anti-aircraft guns have been added to the list of units available in the fortification menu.
  6. The number of gun pits for guns has been increased to 12.
  7. The composition of HQ divisions has been significantly redesigned. In the current version of the unmodified game they are almost useless, and the goal was to fix this. Now HQ divisions not only provide a significant amount of supplies, but also have some useful units, such as 20mm mounted autocannons, anti-aircraft guns, captured tanks, scout planes - but these units are also represented in very small numbers.
  8. One of the most important changes is the addition of ace units to ground and air units. The current game mechanics do not allow you to set different experience levels for company units, so they are placed in a separate "company" with maximum experience. Aces have also been added to Soviet units.
  9. Luftwaffe units now have a parachute unit (without transports) in small numbers. The composition of the reconnaissance and bomber air regiments is completely changed. The former now consists of Me-410s of various modifications, the latter of Ju-188s and a few Ar-234 jets. Since bombers are usually accompanied by fighters, and the game mechanics do not allow adding more than one aviation unit, the bomber squadrons are accompanied by a squadron of FW-190 D9s - a squadron of La-5FN fighters has also been added to the Soviet bomber regiment.
  10. From other balance edits: the range of the Stg-44 rifle has been increased to 400 meters, the Soviet PPSh - to 150 meters.
  11. Infantry reinforcement enabled.

The mod is built for the game version 73160 (121850), but in the additional files you can find the archive with the mod folder, so everyone can make their own changes, and/or build the mod for another version of the game.

Instructions: The mod requires all available DLCs.

Installation: copy the Vistula GER Overhaul from the archive into the %USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\EugenSystems\SteelDivision2\mod\ and enable it in game.
