Elite Force: Graphic Overhaul Project is a mod for Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force, created by don_quichote.

Description:

The Star Trek Voyager - Eliter Force: Graphic Overhaul Project(GOP)is a mod, that basically recreates the Voyager with high definition textures and a new OpenGL renderer.

. This mod is for everyone, who loves the golden age of Star Trek games released by Activision. Elite Force was a nice shooter and for sure one of the best Trek games ever. If you want to play this game today you will might be disappointed about the graphics, which appeared so nice one and a half decade ago. So a couple of years ago I started to collect everything that is useful, to create a graphic overhaul for that wonderful piece of software by Raven. Although most of the textures where created by myself with Photoshop, there are also a lot of sources used, like files from the good old, but gone forever this summer, filefront. I also use a new OpenGL renderer by, which adds a lot of new render technics and light effects. Due to the fact, that this is a pseudo driver it just simulates a lot of effects, but, even this is not working always perfectly, it’s an astonishing improvement compared to the original graphical quality. By the way, this renderer also works for the RPGX editions.

Instructions:

Installation and configuartion

Compatibly: Windows Vista 32/64 Bit, Windows 7 32/64 Bit, Windows 8 32/64 Bit, Windows 10 32/64 Bit. Build and tested with Nvidia graphic cards.

At the Moment it seems to be that the Mod may not work without the Expansion Pack! But try yourself and report.

Mod installation and configuration

Perform a clean installation of Star Trek Voyager Elite Force (see instrucions at the forum, if you have problems report them at the forum).

Install the the Expansion Pack (use same instructions from forum used for ste main game).

Make a backup of your installation just in case (this step is not necessarily required).

Launch the unmodded Single Player and Holomatch game (always as administrator or setting will not be saved) modes for the first time and start a game. After that just quit Elite Force (this step is important, since the moded configuration files could otherwise be overwritten later)

Download the ef_gop_vx.xx file and extract with WinRAR to a random folder.

Copy the extracted files to your main directory of Star Trek Voyager Elite Force (where the game exe is located)

Go into the BaseEF Folder and open with right click the cfg with your text editor:

Choose your language. It is set to GERMAN. If you don’t speak german, don’t mind…nobody is perfect. Enter ENGLISH instead

seta s_language "x"

seta k_language "x"

(But you can chance the language at the in game options menu also)

now choose your display resolution

seta r_customwidth "xxxx"

seta r_customheight "xxxx"

Save the setting. My game runs on native 2560 x1440 but I got reports that high resolutions are not always working and the opengl subsystem gives an error message on start. If thats the case try a 1920x1080 resolution setting.

notepad

NOTE

You cannot use the original game exe to start the game for severel reasons. It will problably not start the game because of an old and not supported copy protection system. And ...the original executable willl not work with new shaders since it will force the engine to use the system opengl32.dll. I included two alternative executables to run the game instead.

Quake3.exe - removed cd-check, should work mulitlanguage, graphics and shaders will work without glitches but I noticed performance issues

stvoy_GOP_SP.exe - removed cd-check, should work mulitlanguage, will run with stable performance but will problably produce a very ugly shadow glitch when firing a gun; if you run the game this way you should got to autexec.cfg and set

seta r_dynamiclight "0"

to deactivate dynaimc lightning and so the shadow glitch. You will see its not a too big loss.

Mediator:

~~~~~~~~~
Run the provided "Mediator" configuration and setup tool, press "Add" in the
ReShade setup Category and browse to your targeted game's executable file. The
setup will try to detect which API the game uses for rendering and then
suggests one for you to install the required binaries. There might be cases in
which this suggestion is not correct or where auto-detection fails. If so,
choose the correct API from the list yourself. Confirm the installation to
let the Mediator create a link to your ReShade files and install the selected
binary in your target application folder.
Thats it, you created a new application profile and installed the ReShade
binaries! Next time your run the game, you should see the ReShade greeting
popping up. If that is not the case, try to do a manual installation.
Note that the Mediator is just provided for convenience and in no way required
to get ReShade fully working. A manual installation will do the same good.
Manually:
~~~~~~~~~

Figure out if the game executable is 32bit or 64bit and copy either

ReShade32.dll or ReShade64.dll into the parent directory of that executable:

Figure out which API the game uses for rendering, or any of the following DLL

names the game loads and rename the DLL you just copied to that:

- Direct3D8 => d3d8.dll

- Direct3D9[Ex] => d3d9.dll

- Direct3D10+ => dxgi.dll

- OpenGL => opengl32.dll (for 64bit too)

Done!

If it still does not work, make sure the DLL is loaded at all (a log file with

the DLL name is created). Repeat the process with another name from the list.

Sometimes the game loads its DLLs from a different directory (a "bin" folder

for instance), so try to install ReShade to that one instead.

In case you experience crashes on startup, make sure no third-party overlays,

game boosters, screen recording, screen streaming or similar software is

running.
