RDR Terrain Textures Overhaul (Manual) is a mod for Red Dead Redemption, created by Nigeez.

Description:

The project improves terrain textures. The new ones have more detail and higher resolution, but retain the style of the originals, so they match the rest of the visuals.

The textures are not created by AI or scaled up. Instead, they are all new. Color and normal maps have a resolution of 2048px. Roads have a resolution of 4096px. By comparison, the original textures are 256px to 1024px, so the jump in quality is huge.

Instructions:

Remember to back up your your old mapres.rpf

Download Magic-RDR Or CodeX.

Open up either program and locate your RDR1 folder "game\mapres.rpf\mapres"

Replace the files with .wtd files included in the mods "mapres" folder.

Note: the Manual version of the mod allows you to have several texture mods installed at the same time. If you are only interested in terrain textures then you can use the simplier to install RDR Terrain Textures Overhaul (standalone) version.
