TTRulez_DifficultyMod is a mod for MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries, created by Oraeon1224.
Description (in author’s own words):
This mod alters Lancemate and Enemy AI aiming to be in accordance with tabletop. PGI nerfed the accuracy of AI players. This is especially true when using ranged weapons like PPC.
DIFFICULTY MODS
I reviewed the AI to hit charts. They use a percentage system. I converted TableTop from TotalWarfare to percentages instead of dice rolls and compared. At default MW5 had over 100% for close distance ranges and very low percentages for distant ranges compared to TT. This mod alters Lancemate and Enemy AI aiming to be in accordance with tabletop and adjust the evasion reductions to TT values. PGI nerfed the accuracy of AI players especially true when using ranged weapons like PPC. Ranged mechs are now deadlier.
Step 1: % hit at range was set 300m, 800m, and 1200m as range cutoffs similar to tabletop (not weapons specific in MW5 but these seemed reasonable from my play as a human). Then each skill category was given TT value percentages based on 300 = short, 800 = medium, 1200 = long range. These were then curved to given logical progression of difficulty (sine wave).
Step 2: % modifier based on Target mech lateral velocity (Target mechs perpendicular velocity component relative to the shooting mech). This was way too high compared to TT (Locust was reducing chance to hit by 80%) This modifier now matches tabletop better.
Step 3: Evasion Curve. The to hit chance is modified by the target (LanceMate or Player) evasion skill. Based on the targets movement speed when shot at they get a percentage of the evasion modifier (Evasion Skill X Evasion Curve). This curve was set to 100% of your evasion skill if in a locust and 10% if in an urbanmech.
Step 4: Overheat
I increased the overheat risk tolerance of the mechs slightly to see if they will behave more aggressively and output more damage. Should work well with the new heat system for my AI mods.
Step 5: Target focusing. On vanilla the enemy mechs unless veteran or higher didn't coordinate fire. This has now been changes to even rookies have a small chance of focusing. Regular and Veteran units should be much more like a person. Mechwarriors should focus target (unless clan).
Step 6: Lethality percent chance on default had mechs rarely targeting stripped areas or dangerous components. This has now been upped significantly. Even a rookie pilot knows to do this. Should make you have to spend more on component replacement.
Step 7: Adjusted Lancemate section: Damage reduction reduced 20% to 10%, Damage increase reduced 20% to 10% to represent targeting my skilled lancemates. Evasion skill curve modified was on 100% scale so 100% reduction in chance to hit at level 10 * prior 70% locust meant 70% reduction in chance to hit way too high. Mechs set on 100% curve and this was set to 20% at level 10. Lancemates are not so hard to hit anymore. So be careful.
Net effect: Overall mechs are harder to hit based on range (though easier for low level enemies), but fast mechs are a little easier to hit. Evasion effects of the player and the lancemates is reduced making it easier for the enemy to hit. Net effect should be more damage output from enemy AI mechs against the player as well as improved lancemate damage output. Fights may be shorter now. Enemy mechs now should seem more like fighting a human who has higher accuracy.
NEW SPAWN MOD:
Difficult: This is a difficulty mod that changes the patrols from 100% vehicles with rare single light mech to being 30% vehicle and 65% Light mech groups with rare medium leaders and 5% Standard lance (2 Lights, 2Medium, 2 Heavies). Makes the game markedly harder. Compatible with all the other mods on this page. If using MercTech use the Merctech version for compatibility there is no conflict.
ADVANCED SENSOR MOD:
Includes the difficulty Mod changes to AI and lancemate but adjust accuracy for the weather and time of day to account for alternative vision modes. Do NOT use with any other TTRulez sensor mod or the the Difficulty mod.
ADVANCED SENSOR MOD RESCALE:
Includes the difficulty Mod changes to AI and lancemates but adjust accuracy for the weather and tie of day. Do NOT use with any other TTRulez Sensor mods or DifficultyMod. This version is compatible with TTRULEZ RESCALE MOD.
VEHICLE AI MOD:
Updates the VTOL to seek your rear arc and avoid fire. In default they were set to sit in the air in front of you like a target.
