Assassin's Creed II Gently Photo-real ReShade is a mod for Assassin's Creed II, created by SundayRoast.

Description (in author’s own words):

Gently Photo-real is my attempt and success at tackling two tasks that I found many ReShade's and SweetFX's struggle with; improving the game graphically while also trying to avoid eyestrain caused by having Bloom and Contrast shaders affect areas which they were unaccounted for.

Gently Photo-real addresses this by only doing smaller tweaks to saturation, contrast and sharpness. A delicate use of bloom.

And most importantly: Eye-adaptation.

Eye-adaptation plays a large part on this ReShade's photorealism, but also in darkening parts that are overwhelmingly white, most notably the games map and menu screen, which now turn from a blinding white to a very light beige. The ambient-light bloom shader and eye adaptation in conjunction make light appear as it is naturally fading from the roofs to the streets.

Note: This ReShade uses debanding to mask compression artifacts in some of the games textures, most notably in sprites, skyboxes and the moonlight bloom sprite. Debaning might cause stuttering with V-sync on and is somewhat performance heavy. So if you're coming across performance issues disable V-sync or press the 'Home' key and disable Debanding from the ReShade menu.
