LargeAddressAware Hack (4GB Patch) is a tool created by Nico Bendlin.

Description:

LaaHack extends the addressable memory range of programs written for 32-bit operating systems (such as the Gothic games). 64 bits, on the other hand, are supported starting with Windows XP Professional x64 Edition and by all subsequent Windows operating systems. In these operating systems, more than 2 GiB of virtual memory can be addressed; older 32-bit operating systems can use a maximum of 2.5 GiB. This can lead to memory shortages in memory-hungry programs or to heavy fragmentation and correspondingly higher computational overhead.

With the hack executable files of 32-bit programs are enabled to address up to 4 GiB of memory. The program can be used to modify files so that they can address up to 3 GiB of memory on 32-bit operating systems and up to 4 GiB of memory on 64-bit operating systems. This is helpful for example when using the Direct X11 renderer for Gothic or Gothic II. More information can be found in the readme in the archive.

Unpack archive.

Execute the exe.

Select the path to the Gothic installation with the "..." button. (Gothic: Gothic/system, Gothic II: Gothic2/system)

Select the Gothic.exe or the Gothic2.exe, check the checkbox in front of it and quit the tool with "Exit".

Done.
