Warning! Below are spoilers from the X-Men '97 episode 7.

A lot happened in the X-Men '97 episode 7. The heroes faced not only grief, but also many changes in the world that could negatively affect their future. It was finally revealed who the X-Men are actually fighting. This is, of course, Bastion, who has so far been operating in hiding, laying out his pawns on the chessboard, but it looks like he's finally ready to fully launch his plan.

The X-Men have already experienced the power of the Prime Sentinels when it came to fighting Bolivar Trask. However, these works of Bastion aren't the only thing the heroes should worry about, as the OZT has also taken off. But what is it actually? Let's start with an expansion of the acronym – OZT stands for Operation Zero Tolerance.

Operation Zero Tolerance in the comics was a government-sanctioned operation aimed at wiping out mutantkind for good after a villainous mutant, Onslaught, seemingly got rid off of the Avengers and the Fantastic Four. Taking command of this operation was none other than Bastion, whose ace up his sleeve was his Prime Sentinels.

Operation Zero Tolerance operations began with an attack on significant groups of mutants and the capture of many of them. In addition, an raidon the X-Mansion took place, where those involved in OZT managed to gain access to Professor X's data on many of the world's mutants. With this information, Bastion was able to prepare numerous ambushes on key mutants with the help of his Prime Sentinels.

And although Operation Zero Tolerance in the comics had nothing to do with the Genosha massacre and took place at a completely different time, all indications are that in X-Men '97 the two plots were linked and the flashpoint for OZT was precisely the events in Genosha. It helpedBastion with the implementation of a plan probably similar to the one he embodied in the Operation: Zero Tolerance comics. Viewers can therefore prepare themselves for the fact that in the coming episodes the mutants will find themselves in even more danger than before, facing more stigma. These are sure to be troubled times for them.
