Blizzard Has Unannounced Project in the Pipeline. Fans Hope for Return of Iconic Series After Phil Spencer’s Words

New brand or return of forgotten series? Blizzard hasn't revealed much about its next game, and some fans aren't convinced that there's anything to look forward to after the studio's recent titles.

Blizzard Entertainment begins work on an unannounced project. After massive layoffs and the cancellation of certain games, the studio is seeking people for several important roles (including a Narrative Director and Creative Director; via Windows Central).

The announcements on the company's official website reveal almost nothing about the project. Mentions of quests and plot clearly suggest that the title is somewhat focused on story and has a narrative campaign, but that's essentially all that can be inferred from these job offers.

Mentions of "iconic" locations could suggest that it's about an already known brand - but in this context, it rather implies creating spots that are supposed to become "cult." There's no real need to mention any other information, as it's all quite general.

Nonetheless, as is usually the case, the lack of specifics doesn't discourage internet users from speculating about Blizzard's mysterious project. Some fans of Blizzard hope for the return of forgotten series (StarCraft or even an RTS from the Warcraft series). Especially after Phil Spencer's words from last year.

However, some fans are hoping that the devs will come up with something completely new. Of course, there are also "optimists" who cynically observe that the announcement of the studio's new game doesn't excite them as much as in the past, especially after Blizzard's recent achievements, mainly in the context of Diablo 4 and Overwatch 2.

However, at the moment, it doesn't make much sense to speculate - not just because of the lack of specifics. Blizzard is looking for key positions for the project, which indicates that the game is at a very early stage of development; if not at the stage of preliminary conceptual work.

Even if the title is eventually released (which isn't certain at all), it will be a long time before we hear about it officially. Not to mention that this is likely not the sole undisclosed project being worked on by Blizzard employees.
