Wartales Doomed to Success; Great Reception on Steam [UPDATE: Sales]

Wartales surprises with its performance and receives numerous positive reviews. There has been no shortage of comparisons to Divinity: Original Sin, The Feud or the Baldur's Gate series. You can still buy the title with launch discount.

Shiro Games has confirmed what unofficial data from SteamSpy had been suggesting for some time. Since its debut in Steam Early Access Wartales has sold 600,000 copies. At the same time, we learned that since the release of the full version, the game has been added to the wish lists of more than a million players. We wonder how many of them will end up purchasing this excellent title.

Only a few days have passed since the debut of the full version of Wartales and the title has already managed to attract tens of thousands of players. Developers from Shiro Games show how the devs should listen to the players when developing a game in Early Access, so that when version 1.0 is released, it will spark renewed interest.

Wartales, a recipe for success

The title had its official launch on Wednesday, April 12, but it was developed in Early Access for a long time. Two factors contributed to the game's success.

  • In early access, for a period of one and a half years (from December 2021 to April 2023), the developers continually expanded their project - releasing patches and roadmaps fpr future updates (which they then implemented). Sticking to a clearly established schedule and listening to players (when it came to changes and novelties), undoubtedly influenced the game's success.
  • Equally important to the high sales was the game's interesting concept. A combination of RPG with strategy game in which, together with a party, we traverse an open world and fight in turn-based battles, turned out to be an addictive mix that doesn't let go easily.

What kind of success are we talking about? Over the weekend in Wartales was played by up to nearly 30,000 concurrent players (at the time of writing this text, 11 thousand people are doing so). Each day they were more and more, which may soon contribute to crossing the threshold of one million copies sold (according to SteamSpy there are currently around 600 thousand buyers). This should be helped by the current deal.

Wartales - sale on Steam

If you are interested in buying the game, you now have a good opportunity to do so. Until April 24 a launch discount is in effect, under which the price of Wartales has been reduced by 25%. Therefore, it is worth hurrying, especially since the game is collecting great reviews.

Wartales - positive reviews

On Steam, as many as 91% of the 10,429 reviews are positive.. Here are some selected player reviews:

"The game is sensational. It refreshed for me the classics of the genre and brought back memories of Baldur's Gate, from which I started my adventure with games of this genre. I recommend it to lovers of classic RPGs."

"If anyone likes games with turn-based combat, immersive exploration and survival elements, I highly recommend this title."

"Great game, the atmosphere pours out of the screen, very nicely written quests, and discovering secrets gives a lot of satisfaction. Just start playing!"
