American Truck Simulator Wyoming DLC Confirmed

ATS: Wyoming, another expansion for the popular American Truck Simulator, has been announced. The expansion will use a new lighting model, which SCS Software is working on.

SCS Software announced American Truck Simulator: Wyoming, another DLC for its excellent 2016 truck simulator. In line with tradition, in November the team first released a trailer which doubled as a teaser of the new DLC, enabling fans to have fun trying to guess the project's content. ATS enthusiasts did not disappoint and correctly selected the state of Wyoming.

The creators did not provide the planned release date. However, we will wait quite a lot for the new expansion, because the developers warned that it is just beginning to take shape and many elements may still change.

Wyoming is one of the least populated states in the USA, but it abounds in many interesting locations that will be recreated in the expansion, such as national parks, red ravines, hot springs or historical attractions.

Announcing the addition, SCS Software also released the first screenshots from American Truck Simulator: Wyoming. While taking a look at them, it is worth noting that they feature a new lighting system, designed to provide much more realistic landscapes.

The improvements are being developed with American Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator 2 in mind. It is an ambitious project that includes not only engine changes, but also the creation of improved versions of many other graphic elements, such as textures or models. All this is to provide the foundation on which both games will be developed in the coming years.

Due to the coronavirus situation, SCS Software had to switch to remote mode, which slowed down the work on all projects, including the new lighting system. This, in turn, resulted in delay of add-ons, as they are being developed with these engine improvements in mind.

In the case of ATS , the developers managed to release American Truck Simulator: Colorado. because this expansion was designed with the old lighting model in mind. The case of ETS2: Iberia was different, so its release was postponed to 2021. That's why the devs avoid declaring the planned release date of Wyoming - they simply don't know exactly when the changes in the engine will be completed.
