UPDATE #2

Iron Gate Studio has overcome challenges and released the latest update for Valheim on Xbox and PC through the Microsoft Store.

UPDATE #1 (May 15)

As it turns out, Iron Gate has some problem with updating Valheim on Xbox and PC versions (but only from the Microsoft store). The studio promises to release an update as soon as possible.

Original news (May 14)

Iron Gate Studio has just launched a highly anticipated update to its popular game Valheim after three weeks of public testing. Ashlands - as it was titled - introduces a large amount of new content, in which the main violin is played by the titular biome.

Valheim: Ashlands - new features

The update Ashlands focuses on expanding the endgame stage, aiming to present the player with new challenges. One careless move could lead to our character being completely incinerated in the deadly land we have to explore, which is covered in ash, charred bones, and boiling lava. To make matters worse, these lands are inhabited by dangerous creatures, which further complicate exploration.

The rescue comes with new equipment, which we will create using the ore found in Ashlands - flametal. New weapons and armor will greatly facilitate gameplay in this extremely hostile area.

In addition to the new biome, the update adds to the game, among other things:

  1. over 30 weapons;
  2. new bombs and ammunition;
  3. 3 sets of armor;
  4. 2 cloaks;
  5. over 10 monsters;
  6. 5 improvements of the workbench;
  7. over 30 materials for crafting items.

Many error fixes and improvements have also been addressed, and this is only a part of the new features prepared by the devs. You can find their full list of updates here. It's also worth mentioning that the studio has created a guide to prepare players for the update - you can read it here.

Valheim is available in early access only on PC (Steam, currently on sale -50%), Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. You can also test out the game via Game Pass.
